I use this same recipe from allrecipes and it's GREAT! I just put everything in a food processor until it's a mush, form the patties and bake them. They hold together just fine for me when I make them this way and they taste great! - 1/24/09

I fixed this recipe today for lunch. It tasted okay. I think if I make it again I won't put as much cumin in the mixture. It seemed too strong. It was a good veggie dish. - 9/25/17

Made this for Meatless Monday's dinner. Used orange bell pepper in place of green. Added in a bit of shredded carrots. - 8/28/17

I subbed grilled mushrooms and onions for the pepper. I used oatmeal in place of bread crumbs. Omitted the egg and hot sauce. Added a taste of ketchup (was thinking tom sauce, ketchup was what i had). Very good burger! - 9/19/14

I made these tonight and they were really good! I did not have bell pepper on hand but I substituted one carrot chopped. I used a mini chopper to speed up the process. If it falls apart a little so what? Grab a fork and dig in. Will make again! - 7/26/14

I just tried this from allrecipies and it was not as amazing as the ones I have had at vegan restaurants but it was pretty darn good. Will definitely make again. - 9/4/13

This is a great recipe! I did cut down on the amount of the spices. I also added 1/2 c. of whole kernel corn, drained to the recipe. I did not have any trouble with the patties either, they formed nicely and stayed together. I did drain everything well. Nice Healthy Meal! - 12/13/11

    Oh, YUM!
I mucked a little with this, as we're not big fans of hot foods, Used a tiny bit of cayenne & some paprika instead of chili powder, and Worcestershire instead of hot sauce.

For the smell! Oh, they smell so good! Now off to grill them! I'll post how they tasted! I used fresh cooked black beans and had to add more bread crumbs so they would stay together. - 9/6/10

This was pretty good, and I am not a huge fan of black beans! My husband wanted to try something like this, and I thought I would give it a try. This was an excellent first try recipe! I used Worch. Sauce instead of hot sauce and it worked pretty good. We really enjoyed this! - 8/11/10

The burger did not stick well together, but tasted good. I think i'll try and pat dry the beans as much as possible. - 3/15/10

    O.K.
These had Great flavor but I was not pleased with the texture at all. I probably wont be making them again u nless I can think of a way to make them less mushy. - 1/6/10

I made these tonight, and they were really good! I didn't use the egg, and they still stuck together perfectly. I had them with some jalapeno poppers (recipe also found on spark), and it was a nice dinner that felt bad for me, but really wasn't. YAY! - 10/27/09

This is awesome! Mine didn't stick together too well (I used a magic bullet in lieu of a food processor and the onions made it super watery so i think this was the problem) but i threw it on some couscous and topped it with avocado, goat cheese and salsa. it was outstanding! yum. - 10/6/09

We cooked them in a skillet but probably would have been better baked. Otherwise delicious! :-) - 7/18/09

Putting them together now. They look delicious. I tweaked the seasoning a bit, adding a tablespoon of garlic powder with the tbsp of chili powder, a teaspoon of Worchestershire sauce, and a couple dashes (two apiece) of salt and pepper.
Does anyone know a good egg substitute to make this vegan?

Delicious! I added one packet of Taco Bell hot sauce(no other) and about a TBS of catsup to bring out the flavor. I'm eating mine right now with BBQ sauce and cornbread. I pan-frieded mine. My house smells wonderful! I'm wondering if adding another egg would help them stick together a little better. - 9/7/08
