Introduction

You'll love these lean turkey burgers packed with spinach and feta. You'll love these lean turkey burgers packed with spinach and feta.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

1 (10 ounce) package Fresh Express Baby Spinach
    1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1 red onion, chopped
    2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
    4 ounces crumbled feta
1 1/3 pounds ground turkey breast or chicken
    1 tablespoon grill seasoning

Tips

I usually double the recipe so I have extras for lunch the next day. I love these things.

Directions

Microwave the spinach until wilted.

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. To one side, add a little extra-virgin olive oil add the chopped garlic and chopped red onion and cook 5 minutes. Transfer the onions and garlic to a bowl to cool. Return pan to heat.

Wring the spinach dry by twisting it in a clean kitchen towel over your sink. Separate the spinach as you add it to the bowl with cool onions, garlic and season with 1 teaspoon of oregano. Add in feta crumbles then chicken or turkey, grill seasoning and a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil. Mix and form into 4 patties, 1-inch thick. Raise heat on pan to medium-high. Add patties and cook 6 min on each side. Makes 4 burgers

This was awesome! But don't forget that the Nutritional Info listed does not include a bun - so make sure to account for that in your planner if you plan to serve this on a bun. - 11/30/11

If you use reduced fat swiss they are good too. The cheese adds alot of calories and salt. The grill seasoning also adds close to 500mg of salt. I used no salt Mrs. dash. The burger without cheese is only 221 calories. - 1/10/13

Counts would be off... comparing recipe w/ ingredients details... 1/4 lb feta is not the same as 1 cup crumbles. 1 1/3 lb turkey is not equal to 16 oz. 1 Tbsp grill seasoning is not 4 tsp, either. And 2 tsp oregano or 2 Tbsp? Anyway, the recipe still sounds good and I'll give it a try! - 5/11/09

So much sodium? I am sure a lot of it comes from the feta. - 2/6/14

This sounds very good until you say the recipe has 20 grams of fat. That is way out of porportion to the carbs and protein. Not helpful to weight loss. The carbs are too few, the fat too much. The protein is just right. I would have to FIX that before I made it up. - 2/5/14

Completely delicious! I used only one pound of 93% lean ground turkey instead of a pound and a third. And, instead of oregano I used the spice sumac. I didn't put it on a bun. My (skinny) husband loved it! - 2/15/17

My burgers weren't cooked through after 6 minutes on each side, so i put them in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. I was able to make 6 burgers. I added Mrs. Dash instead of the oregano because I didn't have any. Very Good! - 2/9/14

    Served with apple slices.

DeLISH! Though I think I'll try these with ground chicken next time. It has a lighter flavor and might let the feta "pop"more (couldn't really taste it - and it's one of my faves). I got 5 patties out of my mix rather than 4, which is great, cuz now I have one leftover for lunch tomorrow! - 5/21/10

These are soo delicious. I expected them to be decent, hence actually attempting the recipe.. but when I ate them they blew me away. There is so much flavor in these that I didn't feel like I was being cheated like I often do when eating turkey in lieu of beef. - 4/21/10

That DOES seem like a lot of sodium, even using the feta cheese and powdered seasoning. I'm questioning it. A local supermarket store makes their own turkey burgers with cheddar and chopped broccoli. These are similar and I might do it with the broccoli, as DH can't eat too much spinach. - 5/11/09

These are AMAZING. I was skeptikal, because I am big on flavor and hate pretty meals that don't taste good. This was quick and easy to make! I think I used way more spinach and I also used the whole McCormick packet. The patties were fat and the spinash, onions and garlic just made it sooo tasty! - 11/13/08
