Introduction

This easy to make bread is great as a dessert topped with cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, or honey or as a part of a main dish like tacos. This easy to make bread is great as a dessert topped with cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, or honey or as a part of a main dish like tacos.
Number of Servings: 3

Ingredients

    1 1/2 c flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/2 cup+ warm water

Directions

Mix ingredients together and knead it for a few minutes. Add flour as needed so dough isn't too sticky. Separate into egg shaped balls. Flatten each ball to 1/4" - 1/2" thick. Fry in hot oil, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown. Drain on paper towells. Size of finished fry bread is adjustable. Makes 7-8 pieces of about 5-6" circumfrence.

    this is definitely the wrong calorie count. i checked the calorie by ingrediants list and the oil was not even figured in!!!! and they soak up a lot of oil.... - 6/16/10

    This is the authentic version! I let mine rest for 10 minutes after kneading then make into balls. This is great syrup or jam. I love it with a touch of salt. - 11/27/08
