Pepper15278: Do you eat Puerto Rican/Dominican food? Sazon and Sofrito are staples in their cooking. Sazon is what makes the rice yellow and sofrito is seasoning. Listique, you can find the ingredients in most stores, though I guess it depends on where you live. - 5/8/08

I am guessing 1.5 cups of uncooked long grain rice and double the water to 3 cups. I think the original 3 cups of rice was a typo because you should always twice the amount of water when cooking long grain rice. - 4/3/08

I haven't made this yet as I have two questions before trying. I have never heard of sofrito or Sazon...what is are they? Also....without Vegarodz comment, I'd have been in the dark about the gandules (and I speak some Spanish...LOL). - 9/27/07

Are you sure that it is 3 cups? 3 cups cooked rice is six cups. If it is right then 2 cups is a serving? It is very good but when I made it came out to be a lot of rice - 6/21/07

This is a good recipe for Arroz con gandules. It is 2 cups of water or you can use chicken or beef broth. The rice should be steamed and not soupy... If you put too much water it will be sticky and starchy. Gracias, for listing this recipe! - 6/22/11
