Introduction

A quick cooking dish. Make sure you don't over cook. That's what brings out the sulfur and makes this vegetable smell and taste bitter. A quick cooking dish. Make sure you don't over cook. That's what brings out the sulfur and makes this vegetable smell and taste bitter.

Ingredients

    18 - Brussels Sprouts, fresh
    1 - Lemon, halved
    1 - Tbsp Olive Oil
    1 - Tbsp Butter
    Salt & pepper to taste

Directions

1. In a very high heat frying pan, add olive oil. Cut the sprouts in half, notch out the core and slice them very thin, like cabbage.Throw in the brussel sprouts , squeeze in 1/2 the lemon (through a strainer to catch pits), add salt and pepper to taste and cook EXACTLY 60 seconds.
2. Remove from heat, add the other 1/2 lemon, stir in butter and serve. ( Remove from pan to retain color - put in a dish or platter.)

Thanks! One thing I forgot to include (which I will now) is that you have to cut the sprouts in half, notch out the core and slice them very thin, like cabbage. This way they can cook quickly!!!

I have made a couple different times. I also do one where I don't add butter, but I do a little dijon mustard - yummy! - 5/10/12

Very good. We had some leftover cooked pork tenderloin and mixed it in with it. I could also see using it as a base for a stir-fry with other veg. Yum - 9/18/10

Wonderful but I want to try it without as much oil/butter. My doctor has restricted me to 800 cal/day so I cut where I can. My Calphalon pans help. - 3/13/09

We adore brussels sprouts and I was thinking I needed to find a new way to prepare them while standing in front of them at the grocery store this very afternoon! Sounds delish!!! Thanks for sharing. - 3/11/09
