Introduction

Full of good stuff! Way better than the boxed junk! From SparkPerson 'JENNYNBOYS'! :) Full of good stuff! Way better than the boxed junk! From SparkPerson 'JENNYNBOYS'! :)
Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    3 cups rolled oats
    1/2 cup wheat germ
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup chopped nuts (not peanuts - too oily) *I used chopped, raw almonds for this batch!*
    1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup sunflower seeds (I used salted for the nutritional information!)
    1 cup chocolate chips
    1 cup vanilla soy milk
3/4 cups honey (warm it if it's too thick to mix)
    1/4 cup canola oil

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325F and spray 9x13 inch pan.
2. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients.
3. Wet your hands and press it into the pan.
4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until looking brown.
5. Don't try to cut it until it's cooled or they'll fall apart. Cut them into 24 bars and stick them in the freezer to pull out as needed.
6. Curves_n_Curls' note: They are just as good straight from the freezer as they are thawed! ;-)

Okay, these are AWESOME. I made a few small changes. I used 3/4 C. raisins, only 1/2 C. chocolate chips, subbed walnuts for sunflower seeds, used light van. soymilk, and 1/4 C. peanut butter instead of canola oil. DELICIOUS!!!! Thanks for the inspiration! - 12/9/09

I substituted in coconut oil, carob chips for the chocolate, and oat bran for the wheat germ. Plus, I also used raw almonds. :) - 12/21/12

I made it with what I had on hand... butterscotch instead of chocolate; macademia/cashews instead of almonds & flax seeds ground up instead of sunflower. Good recipe to do that with, as these turned out FANTASTIC! ;) - 7/14/07

I have just eaten one of these energy bars and I can tell you that they are way better than the ones you get in the store and no preservatives can you ask for anything better.

AWESOME! I used almonds, walnuts, soynuts, 1c coconut, 1 tsp baking soda and used 3/4c peanut butter and 1/2c maple syrup instead of the oil and soymilk. I warmed the wet ingredients on the stove and tossed the dry ones before adding together. YUM!! Mess around with ratios though... - 9/21/09

These bars are very good and filling. I used 2 percent milk with 1tsp vanilla rather than vanilla soy milk. - 2/3/13

I made these today. They are good but my husband thought they tasted a little oily. That may have been the unsalted sunfl seeds. I was wondering how it would taste using peanut butter instead of the oil? - 11/6/07
