Red cabbage for the taste buds Red cabbage for the taste buds
Number of Servings: 6

1 medium head of Red Cabbage
    1 Tbs Olive Oil
    3 Tbs Distilled White Vinegar
    2 Tbs of Butter
    1 Granny Smith Green Apple
    2 Tbs of Grape Jelly

Use a wide knife and slice the red cabbage vertically into thin slices similar but longer than coleslaw then add to a large bowl.

Add vinegar, oil and toss until cabbage is thouraly coated. place cabbage in a small roasting pan, (or baking dish with lid) add butter then cover roaster with lid. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Stir half way through cooking time.
Cabbage should be very tender but not mushy. Remove from oven. Use a grater to shred the Green Apple on the biggest slot for slicing then add the apple to the cooked cabbage. Add Grape Jelly and hotsauce to taste. I use enough to make it spicy.

The tart apple, the sweetness of the grape Jelly and hotsauce work great together in this dish. Sounds like crazy ingrediants but if you like red cabbage with a twist you should enjoy this dish. Be prepared to share the recipe.

Makes (6) 1/2 cup servings.
