Introduction

This is a spicy preparation---served both as an Appetizer or an after Dinner Digestive drink.It is very popular on hot Summer nights as a coolant.Also called "Phooti Kadhi" it can be eaten with plain boiled White Rice----I prefer it as a Drink---very good for Diabetics!!!! Ingredients

    100gms.Dried Mangosteen Peels(Kokum/Soley)
    3 litres Water
    2tsps.Cumin Seeds
    1tsp.Black Pepper Powder
    1tsp.Asafoetida(Hing)Powder
    Black Rock Salt to taste
    5-6 hot Green Chillies
    OR
    1tsp.Red Chillie Powder
    10 sprigs Fresh Mint
    10 Sprigs Fresh Coriander(Cilantro)Leaves

Directions

PREPARATION
Dry roast the Cumin Seeds and powder these.Keep aside till needed.Finely chop the Green Chillies,Fresh Coriander and Mint Leaves.
Wash the dried Mangosteen Peels.
METHOD
Soak the Mangosteen Peels in the Water along with Asafoetida Powder,Salt to taste,Cumin Seed Powder,finely chopped Green Chillies(Red Chilli Powder) ,Fresh Coriander and Mint Leaves for 45 minutes.Pour into glasses and serve as an Appetizer or after Dinner Digestive Drink.
