Introduction

A tasty whole grain hot cereal, loaded with omega-3s. A tasty whole grain hot cereal, loaded with omega-3s.
Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients

    1c oat groats
    0.5 c dried fruit (calorie info is for cherries)
    1c flaxseed meal
    1c walnuts or almonds, chopped or ground
    1c oat bran
    4c vanilla soy milk
    cinnamon (optional)

Directions

Cook the groats in 4c boiling water for 5 minutes. Reduce heat and continue to simmer for 35 minutes on low heat. Add dried fruit and simmer for 10 more minutes. Allow groat and fruit mixture to cool to room temperature.

Use a large mixing bowl to mix groat mixture, oat bran, nuts, flaxseed meal and soymilk. If desired, add a few dashes of cinnamon to mixture. Amount of soymilk can be adjusted to adjust the texture to taste, but calorie info is for 4c soymilk and yields 9.6 1-c servings. Can be served hot or cold.
