Number of Servings: 8


    1 1/2 c flour (can use 1/2 whole wheat flour)
    1/2 t salt
    1 c sugar
    1/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 t baking soda
    5 T unsweetened apple sauce
    3 t distilled while vinegar
    1 t vanilla
    1 c cold water
    1/2 c semi sweet chocolate chip

    1 package fresh strawberries, chopped finely and allowed to sit and get juicy
    1 container cool whip


Preheat oven to 350. Grease 8x8 pan square or round pan.

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, cocoa powder and baking soda. Mix well with a fork, then stir in oil, vinegar and vanilla. When dry ingredients are thoroughly moistened, pour in cold water and stir until batter is smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until toothpick unserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a rack.

Top with strawberries and cool ship

Makes 8 servings.
