    Crushed Tomatoes, 44 ounces (one large can and one smaller can)
    1/3 cup Olive Oil (can be less to cut out more fat)
    1/2 cup chopped Onions,
    Garlic, 4 cloves chopped or crushed
    2 tbsp Basil (prefer fresh, but dried is fine too)
    1 tbsp ground Oregano or 2 Tbsp fresh chopped oregano,
    1 tsp Onion powder,
    2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or 1/4 cup of red wine
    4 tsp Granulated Sugar
    1/2 tsp Garlic powder
    one whole bay leaf
    1 tsp salt (or to taste)


saute fresh garlic and chopped onion in olive oil until tender. Add tomatoes. Add all other ingredients, stir to combine and simmer slowly on the stove top for at least 30 minutes (the longer the better). Can also be made in the crockpot. I usually add homemade (precooked) turkey meatballs, but sauteed vegetables are delicious with this sauce as well.
