    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup wheat bran
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp each ginger, cloves, all spice
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 cup canned pumpkin
    1/2 cup grated carrots
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1/2 cup honey
    1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1 egg
    1tsp vanilla and grated orange zest
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)


Preheat oven to 375.
In large bowl combine flour, wheat bran, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, and salt..
In medium bowl, whisk together pumpkin, carrots, buttermilk, honey, butter, egg, vanilla, and orange zest.
Add wet ingredients to flour mixture and stir just until moistened.
Batter will be think.
Gently fold in walnuts, if using
Divide batter among 12 uffin cups.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in centre of muffin comes out clean
Remove muffins from pan and let col on a wire rack.
Makes 12 large muffins.
