There's a lot of meat, yo!

Number of Servings: 10


    2 lbs ground beef
    1 lb Italian sausage
    3 eggs
    1 12 oz can tomato paste
    1 29 oz can tomato sauce
    1 cup beef broth
    1/2 cup dried powdered bread crumbs
    Oregano (dash or three)
    Onion Powder (dash or three)
    Cumin (dash or two)

    2 packages of whole grain linguine
    2 jars marinara sauce


Mix up in a bowl your meats, eggs, broth, bread crumbs, tomato paste and assorted spices. Spray a 9" X 13" glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and then put in your meat mixture. Shape into roughly a loaf shape, however with this much meat I simply tried to keep it as low and wide as possible without actually touching the sides of the pan. Once this feat is accomplished, pour the tomato sauce over top of the meat. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and place it in to cook. I start with an hour on the timer (my oven is a little fickle) and then check it with a meat thermometer to ensure it's cooked - or I leave it in a bit longer until done. Please please please ensure the meat is thoroughly cooked!!! Dinner shouldn't cause you to become ill. (my opinion)

About time you take your meat out of the oven, let it cool while preparing your pasta.

* I would have preferred more bread crumbs, however that was all I had left on hand so I made do. Normally I'd put in 3/4 - 1 cup for that size mixture.
