    2/3 c brown rice
    1/4 c sliced almonds
    1 can chicken stock
    1/2 can water
    1 bay leaf
    1 TBS spices (oregano, italian seasoning, etc)
    1/2 TBS salt ( to taste)


Brown almonds until fragrant (no oil needed). Set to the side. Bring chicken stock and water to a boil. Add spices, salt, and rice. Boil, covered, on low for 40-45 min. Add almonds during last 15 min. Makes 3 servings.
