Number of Servings: 12


    1 c. rolled oats
    1 c. buttermilk or sour milk

    1/3 c. shortening or margarine
    1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 egg

    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt


Mix together first 2 ingredients. In separate bowl, mix thoroughly the shortening, brown sugar and egg. In another bowl, sift together the rest of the ingredients.

Mix all ingredients together. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 F for 20-25 minutes. Makes 12 muffins.
