Introduction

Ingredients

    3/4 C. cider vinegar
    1/2 C. Heinz ketchup
    1/4 C. worcestershire sauce
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/4 C. chili sauce
    2 T. onion, chopped
    1 T. brown sugar
    1 t. lemon juice
    1/2 t. dry mustard
    dash of cayenne pepper

Directions

Stir together all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, stirring occasionally, 40 minutes.

Divide into basting and serving containers. Use as a basting sauce during the last 10 minutes of cooking. DON'T REUSE BASTING SAUCE!

    there is a lot of sugar in Ketchup - but now one of them (Heinz or Hunts) has a lower sugar version - Also try natural sugars like sucanate or Evap cane juice - it is less processed and healthier; option 3 is Agave Nectar - it is a low glycemic index sweetener. - 8/21/10
