Ingredients

    1 cup unbleached white flour
    1 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
    1 T baking powder
    1/2 t.salt
    1`/2 t.cream of tartar
    2 t. sugar
    1/2 cup soy margarine
    2/3 cup unsweetened soymilk
    2 t. fresh chives, chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In large bowl, sift together unbleached white flour, whole-wheat pastry flour, baking powder, sea salt, cream of tartar, sugar. Cut in soy margarine until mixture resembles coars crumbs. Add soymilk all at once. Stir quickly with fork until mixed. Turn onto lightly floured surface and sprinkle with chives. Knead for 8-10 strokes, roll dough until it is 1/2-inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter straight down, do not twist. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 8-10 minutes. Makes 14 biscuits.
