Homemade Pear Sauce Homemade Pear Sauce

    about 50 ripe pears
    1 1/2 cups water
    2 T lemon juice
    1T vanilla extract
    1 T Cinnamon
    1/2 cup sugar


Peel and core the pears cut into chunks and put in a pan(that's the prep time).
Stir continuously throughout for consistent cooking.
Add water and lemon juice and bring to a boil.
After boiling for a couple minutes I add the vanilla cover and simmer about 30 minutes.
when the 30 minutes is up I add the sugar and cinnamon remove the cover and let simmer about and hour to reduce the liquid. This step depends on personal preference on how you like your sauce, chunky, thick or runny and smooth. I like mine chunky so I only use a potato masher to break up the big chunks. I suspect if you like it smooth you could use an immersion blender or after cooling a regular blender.

Once cooled you can place in containers. I like to freeze or can mine a lot goes for gifts to friends and family over the winter. I've never actually measured how much this makes, so it's my estimate that 1 cooked down pear is about a 1/2 cup and you should get 50 1/2 cup servings.
