mix 1 c wheat bran with 1 cup boiling water in seperate bowl allow to set. Mix sugar and butter. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Combine in moist ingredients and eggs. Add remaining bran, buttermilk. Stir until well blended. Bake at 400 degrees 15 minutes.
