    1 lb. deer sausage
    5 c. water
    1 onion, diced
    2 large potatoes, cubed
    2 mushroom broth cubes OR 1 generous pinch salt
    1 bunch kale, torn into bite sized pieces
    1 c. whole milk or cream


Break sausage into bite sized pieces and saute till browned. Remove from pan. Add onions to pan and saute till golden and soft. Add water and bring to a boil. Add potatoes and simmer till tender. Return sausage to pan and add kale. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, til kale is vibrant and tender. Remove 1 c. broth and whisk into milk to temper, then whisk milk mixture into soup pot. Serve.
