Ingredients
-
2 cups 2% milk (can use 1%)
2 egg yolks
3 TBS white sugar
2 TBS flour or cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Scald 1 3/4 cups of milk in a saucepan. While it's heating, mix the remaining 1/4 cup milk with the sugar and flour. When the milk is hot, pour the milk into the egg yolk mixture and whisk the entire time. Whisk it up good. Pour back into the pan and set back over heat, and whisk constantly until the custard thickens and begins to bubble. Take off heat, put the mixture through a sieve, then stir in vanilla. Let cool. Four 1/2 cup servings. My husband likes this over just about anything baked - turnovers, pie, coffee cake...anything.
