    2 1/2 c. sifted Swans Down Cake Flour
    1 T. baking powder
    1 t salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c butter, softened
    1 c. milk
    1 t. vanilla
    2 eggs

    Chocolate Butter Frosting
    1/2 c. butter softened
    4 c. confectioners sugar
    1 t. vanilla
    3 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
    1 to 2 T milk


Preheat oven to 375. Sifth together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Combine butter, dry ingredients, 3/4 c. of the milk and vanilla in large bowl. Mix on low spped until moistened; beat on low speed 2 mins. Add eggs and remaining milk. Beat 1 min longer. Spread evenly into prepared 9 inch layer pans. Bake until tester inserted comes out clean, 20 to 25 mins. Cool in pans 10 min. Then frost.

Chocolate Butter Frosting
Cream butter and 2 cups confectioners sugar in small bowl. Beat in vanilla and melted chocolate. Add remaing sugar beating after each addition. Thin with mikl to reach desired consistency.
