Introduction

I searched far and wide for a sugar cookie recipe that was similar to the Mrs. Field's type cookies that you find in the mall. These are PERFECT! Soft, chewy and a wonderful flavor! Watch out! These will disappear before your eyes... I searched far and wide for a sugar cookie recipe that was similar to the Mrs. Field's type cookies that you find in the mall. These are PERFECT! Ingredients

    2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 cup softened butter
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 large egg
    1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
    4 tablespoons 2% milk
    Raw, unrefined sugar

Directions

In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and lemon juice.Gradually mix in the dry ingredients. After well mixed, stir in the 4 tablespoons of milk.

Roll into 1 inch balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. (Note: if you have a silicone baking sheet, I use mine anytime I am making cookies. You can find the silpat brand at Bed, Bath, and Beyond). Using your fingers, slightly flatten the tops of each cookie. Sprinkle raw sugar on top of the cookies before baking.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are BARELY golden. Remove from oven and let stand on cookie sheet for a few minutes before moving to cooling rack.

Makes 2 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
