Introduction

A healthier, low glycemic brownie recipe with some added nutty nutrition. A healthier, low glycemic brownie recipe with some added nutty nutrition.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    Dry Ingredients:
    3/4 cup whole wheat flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/8 to 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans

    Wet Ingredients:
    1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 cup baking cocoa
    1/2 cup honey
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 egg

Directions

Makes 12 1-inch thick pieces.

Mix each of the wet and dry ingredients in separate bowls. Mix wet ingredients thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients into wet ingredient bowl and mix thoroughly again. Pour into pan for approximately 1 inch depth.

Pre-heat oven to 350 F. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
