Introduction

Ingredients

    1 cup barley (dry)
    2 cups 1% milk
    1 dash of salt
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    vanilla or almond extract if desired, 1 tsp or to taste

Directions

Place 1 cup of barley into a pot with 5 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Cook for about 1hr until all water is absorbed. Uncover and add 2 cups of milk and 1/4 cup sugar. Continue to simmer and stir until a desired consistancy is reached. When done, remove from heat. Vanilla or almond extract can be added, cinnamon or raisins (raisins not included in nutrition analysis)
