    2 Cups Old Fashioned Oats
    1/2 cup wheat germ
    1/4 cup ground flax
    2 Tbs brown sugar splenda blend
    1/4 tsp. salt

    2/3 cup sugar free maple syrup
    1 Tbs Honey
    1 Tbs Olive Oil
    1 Tbs Water
    Almond Extract (approx 1 tsp) optional

    1 cup extra ingredients such as slivered almonds, dried fruits, coconut, chocolate chips,etc. In this recipe I just used the slivered almonds and dried blueberries/pomegrate/cranberry mix.


Mix dry ingredients together. Mix liquid ingredients and heat to simmer do not boil. Pour liquid over dry ingredients and mix. Squeeze mixture with your hand to form clusters. Put in a 9x13 baking pan sprayed with pam. Bake 30 minutes at 275 degrees stirring once, mix in "extra" ingredients and bake an additional15 minutes. Cool completely.
If your adding chocolate hips they will melt and coat the granola if you mix them in before it cools.

**The original recipe called for 1/3 cup honey, 3 T canola oil, I substitued more sugar free syrup to save on calories and only 1 T of oil)
