    * Butter, unsalted, .75 cup
    * Granulated Sugar, 1 cup
    * Egg, fresh, 1 large
    * Molasses, .25 cup
    * Ginger Root, .1"x2" piece, grated
    * *Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched, 2.5 cup
    * Baking Soda, 1.5 tsp
    * Cloves, ground, 1 tsp
    * Cinnamon, ground, 1 tsp
    * Ginger, ground, 1 tsp
    * *Raw sugar, 10 tsp


You can also add 1/2 cup chopped small candied ginger
Also, some people have dipped these in dark chocolate
Cinnamon sugar for rolling the cookies in...maybe 1/4 cup white sugar and a
teaspoon cinnamon

Turn on the oven to 350, lightly grease the cookie sheet or use what I do...Bake-O-Glide sheets.
Soften the butter, add sugar, egg, molasses, grated ginger...beat till fluffy.
Separately mix the flour, b. soda, spices. Add to butter mixture and stir in.
Should be a stiff dough.
Roll into balls, roll in sugar.
Bake till barely brown, maybe 11 minutes. Let sit one minute, then remove from cookie sheet.
