Sauté the onions, garlic and spices until the onions soften. Avoid using too much oil at this stage even though the paste will look a little dry. Add the lentils and stir in well over a low heat. Add the stock and allow to come to the boil and continue boiling until the lentils soften to a smooth consistency. Add the peas and continue to boil further 10 minutes.
