Number of Servings: 6


    1 large yellow onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 cup tomato juice
    4 cups water
    1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
    2 teaspoons garlic salt
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 bay leaf
    2 cans (16 oz each) cut green beans drained
    1 can (16 oz) kidney beans, drained (I also rinsed them)
    14 oz Turkey smoked sausage cut into bite-sized pieces


Add all ingredients to 4-7 slow cooker. Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or on high 4-6 hours. Add boiling water if necessary during cooking. Remove bay leaf before serving.

This recipe called for olive oil but I'm not sure why so I left it out. I also wonder if you could leave out the garlic salt and just use garlic powder to help lower the sodium.
