    2 cups red onions (chopped)
    1 tsp red pepper (berbere)
    2 cups water
    1 cup butter (spiced)
    1/4 cup garlic
    1/3 cup cooking wine (red) or t'ej
    2 lbs meat with bones
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/2 tsp ginger
    1/4 tsp cardamom
    2 lbs ground beef
    to taste salt


Brown onions without grease in medium cooking pan. Add meat with bones and cook until tender. Add red pepper and a little wine or t'ej at a time and stir constantly. Add butter and stir. Add spices and water and simmer for 10-20 minutes more. When sauce is thick put ground beef in a dish and pour the sauce on it. Serves 6. Store meat and sauce separately in refrigerator.
