Introduction

I am trying to lower my sodium intake, so this recipe is the low sodium version. If you are not concerned about sodium, you can use 2 Tbls of butter to saute the onion and use the regular chicken broth and tomatoes I am trying to lower my sodium intake, so this recipe is the low sodium version. Ingredients

    8 oz can Tomato Sauce
    1/2 c. chopped Onion
    1/2 tsp dried Basil
    1/4 tsp Thyme, ground
    fresh ground black pepper to taste
    14.5 oz Kroger 33% less sodium chicken broth,
    1 14.5 oz can Tomatoes, diced no salt added

Directions

Saute chopped onion in a small amount of the chicken broth until soft, add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, thyme and black pepper, simmer 15 - 20 minutes. Cool slightly and puree in blender, return to pan and heat to serving temperature.

I didn't have a can of no salt added tomato sauce handy when I entered this recipe. If you use no salt added tomato sauce it will obviously lower the overall sodium content. I will edit the recipe as soon as I get a can of no salt added tomato sauce.
