    1c all purpose flour
    1/2 c cocoa
    1tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    2Tbsp unsalted butter (room temp)
    1 1/2 c granulated sugar
    2 egg whites
    1/2 c unsweetened applesauce
    1tsp vanilla


Makes 16 (small) squares

1. sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt into a bowl
2. In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar. Whisk in egg whites, applesauce and vanilla.
3. Stir flour mixture into butter/applesauce mixture just until combined
4. Line bottom of an 8-inch (2L) square baking pan with parchment paper. Pour batter into pan. Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 35 to 40min, or until firm. Cool in pan and cut.

You may add 1/2c dried cherries or spices like nutmeg, cinnamon & cloves to the batter.
I have never used Splenda before so have not tried it as a substitute.
