This is a double batch with plenty to freeze. This is a double batch with plenty to freeze.
Number of Servings: 16


    1 lb green split peas
    1 lb yellow spit peas
    8 oz diced ham
    2 medium onions, diced
    5 stalks celery, sliced thin
    4 medium carrots, sliced thin
    2 medium yellow potatoes, diced
    2 tsp Sodium Free Beef broth granules
    1/4 tsp black pepper (more to taste)
    16 cups water
    Additional herbs to taste--bay leaf, rosemary, etc.


Place all items in a large stock pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook until vegetables are tender. May blend in food processor, etc. if creamer consistency desired. Adjust seasonings and serve.
