Introduction

Ingredients

    5 cups chicken broth
    5 cups water
    2 cups dried split peas
    1 Tbl. olive oil
    1 cup chopped onion
    2 clove garlic, minced
    1 Tbl. curry powder
    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
    1 tsp. coriander
    1/2 cup 1% milk

Directions

Combine broth, water and dried peas into pot. Heat to boiling, turn off heat, cover, and let stand for 1 hour. Reheat, and simmer over low heat for 45 min. Saute in skillet the onion, garlic and spices for about 7 min. Stir spice mixture into peas, cover, and cook over low heat for 20 min. Add a couple spoonfuls to milk in seperate bowl, stir, and add back to the pot. Add salt and pepper according to taste. To reduce sodium content, use homemade broth!
