Introduction

This is a great fall soup that you can have waiting for you when you get home from a long day. Placed in a small sourdough bread bowl it makes a great complete meal. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 cups (16 oz pkg) dry split peas
    8 cups water
    1 large rib celery, chopped
    1 large carrot, chopped
    1/2 med. onion, chopped
    2 large garlic cloves, minced
    Bay Leaf
    1-2 dried red chili peppers
    1/4 tsp cayenne
    1/3 tsp Thyme
    Black Pepper & Salt to taste

Directions

Place all ingredients in a crock-pot and turn on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours. Before serving mush a flat serving spoon around to break up the peas. If you wish to have a thicker soup reduce the water to 6 cups or add a thickener like cornstarch or flour (the nutritional info does not include thickener).
