This is a mild chili; I have added hot sauce to give it a little bit of spice. This is a mild chili; I have added hot sauce to give it a little bit of spice.

    2 lb lean ground beef
    2 cups chopped onions
    1/2 cup chopped green or red pepper
    6 cloves garlic, mixed
    3 1/2 cups water
    1 12-oz can tomato paste
    1 15-oz can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
    1 15-oz can Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained
    1 14.5-oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
    1 T prepared mustard
    1 t chili powder
    1 t black pepper
    1 t cayenne pepper
    1/2 t salt
    1/2 t ground cumin


1. In 12 inch skillet cook ground beef, onions, pepper, and garlic until meat is browned. Drain off fat. Transfer into slow cooker.
2. In medium bowl, combine water and tomato paste; pour over meat mixture.
3. Stir in kidney beans, Great Northern beans, tomatoes, mustard, chili powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, salt, and cumin.
4. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 8 hours or on high heat setting for 4-5 hours.

Serving Size: makes 8 1 cup servings
