We make a pot of this on Sunday and refrigerate it. Each morning we microwave our 1 cup serving and add our preferred extras giving us a hot breakfast in less than 2 minutes. 3 cups steel cut oats
1 tsp salt
9 cups water
Directions
Makes 12 1-cup servings
* Bring 9 cups of water and 1 tsp salt to a boil.
* Add 3 cups of steel cut oats, stir, partially cover and lower to a simmer.
* Simmer for 30 minutes (can be up to 10 minutes more or less depending on the consistency you prefer)
* Pour into a container and refrigerate.
** Each morning, dish out your 1 cup serving for breakfast, microwave for 2 minutes. Add various things for a different breakfast each morning.
** Suggestions of additions:
- Fresh berries
- Frozen berries
- Cinnamon
- Maple Syrup
- Brown Sugar
- Walnuts
- Apple cubes and cinnamon
- Banana
- Raisins, dried fruits
