Ingredients

    12 oz ground beef
1 cup onions, finely chopped or pureed in a food processor
1 6 oz can tomato paste

    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp olive oil
    1/3 cup slivered almonds

Directions

Mix ground beef, onions, and spices together and shape into meatballs about the size of 1/2 egg. Heat a saucepan sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat and add meatballs all at once. Cook at medium heat until browned, shaking the pan or stirring lightly to turn meatballs over. In a bowl, slowly add about 2 cups of water to the tomato paste, stirring well. Add tomato mixture to the meatballs, add another 1/2 tsp allspice if desired. Bring to a boil, cover and turn down heat. Simmer until meatballs are done, about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a small saucepan and fry the almonds until toasted, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle almonds over meatballs before seving.
