    -6 apples (best with Granny Smith)
    -2 tbsp sugar
    -1tbsp brown sugar
    -ground cinnamon
    -water (enough to cover apples in pan)


1) Wash, peel, and quarter apples.

2) Place apples into medium sized pan. Add water slowly until tops of apples are covered. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and drain excess water. Mash apples, leaving some bite sized pieces if desired.

3) Add sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon to taste.

Can eat warm or chilled. Serves approximately 8 1/2-cup servings.

  • Reminds me of childhood days. We ran out to the tree, got apples, fixed the recipe and had homemade apple sauce with dinner. I'll do this for the family tonight. - 7/14/09

  • We just made apple sauce tonight and we didn't measure - this sounds like what we did - it turns out great and is yummy warm - the only thing we did different is we don't use as much water, as the apples make their own juice as they cook - thanks for submitting! - 8/24/08
