Ingredients

All ingredients can be adjusted to taste. When eating the soup you can add more vinegar to taste.

Directions

Put lentils in a large pot and cover with adequate water (about 3 inchs above lentils). Bring to boil and keep at a low rolling boil for about 1 hour - making sure there is always enough water. If any 'scum' comes to top just scoop off with a spoon. If water reduces too much add another 2 cups of water and bring back to boil. Meanwhile finely chop one onion and peel the garlic cloves. Add onions, garlic, olive oil and bay leaves and bring back to slow boil. In large measuring jug empty the can of paste and using liquid from lentils mix in with paste so it's runny enough to pour into the soup and mix well.
In large measuring jug (you can use the same one that had paste in) put 1 tbs of flour and add 4 tbs of vinegar and mix to a runny paste (might need more that 4 tbs). Using liquid from soup add to paste and mix to make very runny and then pour into the pot. Mix/Stir well, add salt and peper to taste - cook for another couple of minutes whilst stirring so soup doesn't stick.
