    1/2 pound thin spaghetti
    15 cloves garlic peeled
    3/4 pound fresh asparagus chopped into 1 1/2 inch pieces
    1/2 large red onion chopped
    1/4 cup olive oil
    1.5 T red wine vinegar
    1/2 T lemon juice
    1/4 tsp. sugar
    1/2 cup pasta cooking water
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste


1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Bring large salted pot of water to a boil.
2. Place garlic cloves on sheet of aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil. Wrap cloves in foil and place in preheated oven and roast until just golden brown, about 25 minutes.
3. Cook asparagus in boiling salted water for two minutes, remove (reserve cooking water) and refresh in cold water.
4. Bring asparagus cooking water to reboil and add thin spaghetti, cooking until al dente.
5. Meanwhile saute onions in 1 T olive oil until soft, about five minutes.
6. Place roasted garlic, vinegar, lemon juice and sugar in a blender a puree until combined. Slowly drizzle in 1/8 cup of olive oil.
7. Drain pasta, add asparagus, pasta and garlic vinaigrette to onions and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
