    one 28 ounce can of whole peeled tomatoes, 1 can tomato paste, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 2 garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, tablespoon Italian seasoning, 8 chopped basil leaves, salt and pepper and 1 teaspoon sugar


Put two tablespoons olive oil in sauce pan over medium heat. Add dry italian seasonings and allow to flower in hot oil. Add onions and garlic and cook for 4 minutes and allow to soften not brown. Add can tomato paste and 2 cans of water. Stir until onions,garlic and seasonings incorporated. Crush whole tomatoes in a large bowl with and add to pot. Using an immersion blender pulse tomatoes until course smooth. Let sauce come to boil and simmer for 45 minutes. When finished add chopped basil.

Serving Size: makes 6 1 cup servings
