    1 cup TVP granules, regular or chicken flavored
    2 teaspoons vegetarian chicken bouillon granules
    1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
    1/8 teaspoon celery seed
    cup flour (you may use less or more depending on desired consistency)
    1/2 cup bread crumbs
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    Salt, to taste
    1 cup water
    Vegetable oil or cooking spray


Preheat the oven to 350F.

Combine the vegetarian chicken bouillon granules, poultry seasoning, and celery seed in a medium saucepan. Stir in 1 cup of water. Add TVP granules. Heat the mixture to boil over medium heat.

Boil mixture for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes.

Combine bread crumbs, garlic powder, pepper, and salt in a small bowl or plate. Place the bowl to the side.

Place the TVP mixture into a bowl with 1/8 cup of flour. Combine, slowly adding more flour by the tablespoon until consistency is firm.

Remove the TYP mixture from the bowl and place it on a cutting board. Using a rolling pin or your hands, flatten the TVP to 1 to 1 inch thickness. Using a knife or your hands, cut or shape the TVP into chicken-strip-like pieces.

Dip the TVP chicken strips into the bowl containing the bread crumb mixture, thoroughly coating the pieces.

Place TVP chicken strips onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

Serve TVP chicken strips with dipping sauces such as ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue.
