    1 whole wheat pita
    1 ounce crumbled goat cheese
    2 dried figs
    2 tablespoons fresh basil
    1 teaspoon olive oil
    1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced


Pour boiling water over figs. Steep for 10 minutes. Saute onion in olive oil until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Chop basil and sprinkle over pita bread. Drain and chop figs. Place caramelized onions on pita, top with figs and goat cheese. Bake at 350 degree for 15 minutes or until cheese begins to brown.

  • Awesome and healthy pizza. We used fresh figs and a whole wheat, bran and flax pita that was only 60 calories versus the recommended one with 170 calories. Hard part was not making and scarfing down a second one. - 7/26/11
