Don't know what to do with your fresh figs? Try this recipe- it's delicious! Don't know what to do with your fresh figs? Try this recipe- it's delicious!

4 small figs, washed and destemed.
    1 pat of butter
    3 TBS Balsamic Vinegar
2 TBS Pecans, chopped into large pieces

Wash, destem and half figs. Set aside.
In a small non stick frying pan, toast walnuts or other nut of your choice until fragrant on medium heat. Remove walnuts from heat and place in a small dish.
Add pat of butter to pan and melt. Once melted add the figs cut side down, about 2 minutues. You're trying to carmelize them slightly without cooking them through. Flip the figs. Add balsamic vinegar to the pan and swirl the pan to cook down the vinegar- do not breath in the fumes while cooking the vinegar- it will be very strong and I always start coughing! As it evaporates the vinegar turns into a delicious syrup.

Add the walnuts to warm... dessert is ready! Enjoy

I eat this dish as is but if you have the extra calories this is delicious over vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt.
