Number of Servings: 16


    1/3 cup flax seed
    1cup milk
    2 tablespoons real butter, cut up
    2 cups whole wheat flour
    3 tablespoons brown sugar
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast


Place the flax seed in a blender container. Cover and blend until ground.

Mix the flour and flax seed together

Add the ingredients to a 1-1/2- or 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturer's directions
( I have a sunbeam 5891 and this was the order I did it in - milk,egg,butter,sugar,salt,flour/flax mixture, then made sure no liquid was showing made a small indentation in the flour and add the yeast * you have to make sure the yeast does NOT touch the liquid)

If available, select the whole grain cycle, or select the basic white bread cycle.

Select desired color setting (I use medium)

Makes one 1-1/2-pound loaf (16 slices).

Serving Size: Makes 1.5 pound Loaf
