A not-too-sweet, hearty start for a cold day. A not-too-sweet, hearty start for a cold day.
Number of Servings: 4


    * Water, tap, 3 cup (8 fl oz)
    * Milk, 1%, 1 cup
    * Steel Cut Oats, dry, 1 cup
    * Vanilla Bean Paste or Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
    * Muscovado or Brown Sugar, 3 tbls unpacked
    * Almonds, 0.25 cup, sliced
    * Cranberries, dried, sweetened, 0.25 cup


Bring water to a boil in medium saucepan, add milk, return just to boiling, stir in oats and reduce heat to simmer.

Simmer, covered 30 minutes.

Stir in vanilla, sugar, cranberries & almonds until well blended.

(can easily be adapted to crockpot use - follow directions for your machine.)
