Introduction
These are very good. My family debated over what type of meat these burgers were made with. They were very surprised when I told them there was no meat. These are very good. Ingredients
-
1/2 cup uncooked lentils
1/2 cup uncooked brown rice
1-1/2 cups carrots, finely grated
2 cloves finely minced garlic
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 small onion, finely minced
5 T parmesan cheese
(I use taco seasoning recipe I found on SP)
Taco Seasoning
2 tablespoon Chili Powder (check ingredients, no salt makes low sodium)
4 t onion powder
2 t ground cumin
2 t garlic powder
2 t paprika
2 t ground oregano
Directions
Cook lentils and rice in 2 cups water for 45 minutes, simmering over low heat in a covered pan. Allow to cool.
Add remaining ingredients and mix well. I let these sit in fridge over night as they tend to fall apart. You have have to adjust the parmesan cheese for a little more "glue" Shape into patties and cook on griddle or pan (may spray with non-stick spray) over medium heat, until nicely browned (If you turn too soon they will fall apart)
Number of Servings: 8
I top each burger with low fat mozzarella cheese (45 calories per slice)
Serving Size: Makes 8 burgers (I used 1/2 cup to measure)
Number of Servings: 8
