    2 1/2 cups
    water, divided
    1 cup
    oatmeal, quick-cooking
    3 tbs
    2 pkgs
    1 tbs
    2 cups wheat flour
    2 cups
    all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsps
    1/3 cup
    brown sugar


Note: The original recipe called for only all purpose flour. I modified to 50/50. You could further modify to your taste, or use all white flour.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan, then stir in oats and butter.
Boil, stirring constantly, 1 minute.
Remove from heat and let cool to 110 degrees.
Bring remaining 1/2 cup of water to 105 degrees (or whatever the yeast package recommends), and combine with yeast and sugar.
Let it stand 5 minutes until it foams (if it doesn't, start over with fresh yeast)
Knead oatmeal, yeast mixture, flour, salt, and brown sugar until smooth (about 5-7 minutes)
Place in a well-greased bowl, turning to grease top.
Cover and let rise in warm place, 1 hour.
Lightly grease 2 round cake pans.
Divide dough in half, then shape each half into 8 rolls.
Place rolls in cake pans, cover lightly, and let rise in warm place, 30 minutes or until doubled.
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
