    2 pkgs active dry yeast
    1 cup warm water
    1 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup boiling water
    2 eggs
    6 cups unsifted flour
    1 tbsp salt
    melted butter or margarine


1. Sprinkle yeast on top of the warm water in a small bowl and set aside.
2. Cream shortening and sugar in a large bowl, using electric mixer. Add boiling water and stir until shortening is mostly melted.
3. Beat the eggs until thick, then add to shortening mixture.
4. When lukewarm, stirs in yeast mixture. Stir GENTLY.
5. Sift in flour and salt and mix in WELL.
6. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or until ready to use. (It will keep for about a week)
7. Two and a half to three hours before ready to use, roll out the dough to 1/2" thickness and cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
8. Place small bits of butter on the round, fold over, and pinch the edges together. Place on lightly greased pans and brush with melted butter or margarine.
9. Allow to rise in warm place for 2-3 hours. Bake at 400 F for about 5-10 minutes or until lightly browned on top. (Varies depending on oven- position of your rack, etc. Always best to watch as I have found some ovens brown the bottom faster than they do the top!)
